Visited Coronado Island and decided to have lunch here. Coronado is a truly beautiful little island full of antique shops and retired navy personnel. The Hotel Del Coronado can also be found here and has been featured in many movies. Can you make out the sea gull in the photo?
Photo of the Midway. The Midway is a World War II era aircraft carrier that has been converted into a museum.
Water ferry dropping off and picking up folks in Coronado Island.
Some of the waterfront shops and restaurants on Coronado Island.
Close up view of the shops and vegetation.
View towards downtown San Diego.
Can you find the plane in this photo? The planes come in so low because the buildings are located on the hills and the airport is on the bay. The brown building just to the right of the plane is the federal prison, hence the funny looking windows.
A view of Seaport Village from Coronado Island.
Seaport Village.
I liked this view of the vegetation with the Hilton Hotel in the background.
Another vegetation shot. The twin buildings in the background are the the Marriott Hotel.
View from my room towards the bay. If you look closely you can see an aircraft carrier in the far background. The brown building in the center is the federal prison. Patty Hearst did her jail time there.
If you look closely you will see that the windows on the prison are very narrow, just enough room to be able to look outside. The view is great from here but I am not sure I would want to stay here just for the view. :-)
The USS Ronald Reagon. This is a Nimitz class aircraft carrier and the ship is in port for refurbishment and repairs. The things that look like sausage links are there to protect the carrier from an attack similar to what happend on the USS Cole in Yemen. This shot was taken from my hotel room and I thought it interesting to have both the carrier and the sailing ship in the same photo.
An Aegis class crusier coming into port.
A destroyer coming into port. You can see part of Seaport Village in the foreground.
Old Town San Diego. They have great Mexican restaurants here and no trip is complete to San Diego without a visit here.

Old Town San Diego. The man is wearing a traditional Mexican "coat" called a Zarape. Clint Eastwood made these famous in his Spaghetti Westerns.
