Oct - Nov 2009

This was my second trip to the Republic of Georgia. On this trip I was able to explore Tbilisi a bit more along with trips to Sighnaghi and the venerated Bodbe Monastery.

The town of Sighnaghi (literally meaning "a harbor" in Turkish). It is located in Georgia's easternmost region of Kakheti and is up in the mountains. Known for its wines and for the historical monuments nearby such as the Bodbe Monastery, which I also visited on this trip.

Tbilisi. This statue looks down on the Mtkvari river and at one end of the Metekhi bridge not far from the Metekhi church.

Traditional Georgian dance troupe performing at the Old Mill Restaurant. The restaurant is located on edge of the Mtkvari river and is on the road that leads to Gori. It is a rustic and charming place with a beautiful courtyard though the evening I visited is was raining cats and dogs outside and quite chilly.
