I upgraded the stock wheels on the Jaguar S Type R to much lighter and nicer looking HRE wheels.
These HRE wheels are much lighter and provide a better view of the large Brembo brakes and massive 14 inch (36.5 centimeters) discs.
These HRE wheels are extremely light weight and of a multipiece design.
Jaguar installed 4 piston Brembo calipers and provided the stock discs. I went ahead and upgraded the discs in order to provide better stopping performance.
If you look closely you can see the multi-piece design of the HRE wheels.
In this photo you can see the upgraded discs. I had the discs strengthed cryogenically and had slots groved into them to improve braking performance. Since this photo was taken I have further upgraded the discs to include both slotting and cross drilling to improve performance further.
View of the rear HRE wheel.
The low profile tires along with the HRE wheels really make the car stand out from a standard non-supercharged Jaguar.
The chrome wheels really stand out against the black paint job.
The wheels are nicely matched with extreme high speed Michelin Sport Pilot performance tires.
After the modifications to the intake, supercharger, ECU, and exhaust systems, this Jaguar S Type R now puts out more than 500 HP. It is a rocket and yet looks so sedate. A true "sleeper" car.
I love the Jaguar leaper on the hood. It is, in part, what makes a Jaguar a Jaguar.
HRE Wheels. I love the lines of this car. You cannot mistake this car with any other on the road something that can't be said nowadays with so many cars that all look the same - even the new Jaguars which look like Volvos.
The distinctive "R" just behind the tire is Jaguar's designator for their higher performance supercharged cars.
View of the slotted disc, Brembo caliper, and HRE wheel.
Close up view of the discs and Brembo brakes.
HRE Wheels. Along with the Brembo brakes you can see the electronically activated parking brake (in black). This secondary brake also activates any time the wheels start to spin and loose traction.
The rear brake caliper is a bit smaller than the front one as is the disc.
HRE wheels. They really enhance the look of the car.
